Department of General Linguistics, Saint-Petersburg State University

The Department provides quality preparation for students and masters majoring in General linguistics, Balkan studies, Baltic studies, Byzantine and Modern Greek studies.

The Department provides Readers of general linguistic courses for other departments of the Faculty of Philology as well as some other faculties at St. Petersburg State University.

In addition to the list of obligatory courses the students at the Department are offered nearly thirty special courses and workshops to choose from.

The Faculty of Philology senior students have an opportunity of specializing in psycholinguistics, anthropological linguistics and comparative linguistics in addition to their majors.

The Department provides research preparation and supervision for postgraduates and PhD applicants in degree qualifications 10.02.19 «Theory of Language» and 10.02.20 «Indo-European, typological and comparative linguistics».
